Reddam victorious in G'town

26 February 2013
REDDAM took the honours with a fine 8-4 win over Grey High in the St Andrew's Shield water polo tournament in Grahamstown at the weekend.

The Shield competition was keenly contested, with all eight sides showing they had the potential to win.

Buoyed by outstanding support from the home crowd, St Andrew's came up against Reddam in the semifinals and led 4-2 heading into the final chukka.

But Reddam took advantage of their opportunities in the final to win 5-4.

In the other semifinal, Grey High produced an outstanding performance to beat Clifton 12-10.

In the earlier matches, St Andrew's lifted their game in the final pool match to beat St David's 14-3 to qualify for the quarterfinals, where they beat Pearson convincingly 13-3.

In the Plate competition, Stirling beat Hudson Park 4-2 to take the title, while Grey High 2nd and St Andrew's 2nd played to a 5-5 draw to share third place.
