FLYHALF Justin van Staden struck three penalties in the final 14 minutes to give FNB NMMU Madibaz a tense 14-10 win over Free State University in their Varsity Cup rugby clash at NMMU Stadium last night.

In the Varsity Cup, penalties count two points each and conversions three points.

Last night's other results: Maties 18 Tukkies 16, University of Johannesburg 63 Wits 24, Pukke 29 v UCT 26
