In search of an African university

THE Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) launched the first in a series of dialogues last night aimed at transforming the tertiary institution into a forefront leader of education known for its "cutting-edge" knowledge.

The series of dialogues, spearhead by the university's vice-chancellor ProfessorDerrick Swartz, focuses on engraving the institution's core mission, vision and values into both learners and academics.

The dialogue, called Vision 2020, aims to grow the institution into a "dynamic African" university.
