Tigers on the prowl in baseball league

01 March 2013
PARK Tigers, spearheaded by the pitcher-catcher combination of Lyle Ferreira and Leon Willet, kept the Pirates batters at bay to record a 15-0 win in their league clash at the weekend.

They were assisted by a good allround defensive effort by Divan Barnard at third base, Hennie Stander at short stop and Mark Moore at first base.

Ferreira pitched four frames, not allowing any runs. Leon Willet took over and also did not allow any Pirates players to cross the home plate.

There was strong resistance from Matthew Moore and JP Benson in the Pirates batting department, but to no avail.

In the B Section, Tigers B beat Pirates B.

In the late game, Gelvan Athletics Baseball Club overcame a three-week losing streak to outclass VWBC 14-2.

For Gelvan, the pitcher-catcher combination of Kurt Geswindt and Wade Piedt worked well.

In the other B Section game, St Peters overcame VWBC in a closely fought contest.
