Bombers facing a major test

01 March 2013

BOTH African Bombers and GAP Despatch will be aiming to bounce back from earlier defeats when the third round of the Cell C Community Cup rugby tournament takes place tomorrow.

Despite having homeground advantage, Bombers have a daunting task ahead of them against arguably the country's second strongest non-university club, Pretoria Police.

Police lost to College Rovers in the final of the National Club Championship last year, but are a potent force.

Bombers, who received a wild card entry into the tournament, have been one of the surprise packages so far, beating Welkom Rovers at home and picking up a bonus point in their 45-26 away defeat to Durbanville-Bellville last week.

In Despatch, the home side will be looking to restore their credentials when they play Villagers Worcester from Boland.

Despatch had a tough opener against tournament favourites College Rovers in Durban and they will be hoping more familiar surroundings will help them to launch their campaign tomorrow.
