Taxis misusing dedicated lane

THE taxi drivers' use of the Harrower Road bus lane is a daily concern and nobody is bothered until we have a collision or worse injury. These taxis are in a bus lane jumping the red bus light, cutting in front of traffic ready to go on the left on the green light.

Can we get a camera or some police activity out here in the mornings? Please stop this before someone pays.

The taxis then stop in a no stopping zone in front of the free- flowing traffic. Hello, that is a no stopping zone.

Is the traffic department bothered with road safety? Or are they themselves taxi owners allowing their brothers to get away with it?

Numerous appeals have been made to have this intersection policed, yet it falls on deaf ears. The only conclusion we the public can come to is the traffic department does not care.

I see a few infringements here:

  • Misuse of the dedicated bus lane;

  • Jumping the red bus lane traffic signal;

  • Illegal stopping;

  • Obstructing free-flowing traffic.

It would seem that lawlessness is going to be our norm.
