A FIRST half goal from Lyle Peters was the only difference as Bay Stars collected maximum points to beat FC Buffalo 1-0 in their Safa-Eastern Cape Second Division soccer clash in East London yesterday.
Peters scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute. The victory sees Stars move to third on the log, two points ahead of Buffalo who slip to fourth.
Stars coach Mark Harrison thought the game wasn't pretty but remained pleased with three points.
The hosts started the second half looking for the equaliser and Sandiso Galeni missed a golden opportunity to put the game on level terms. He played a beautiful one-two with Tebogo Kukam inside the Stars box and it took two reflex saves from Sheldon Baatjies to deny him.
With the clock ticking, Buffalo coach William Mugeyi looked to his bench to turn things around, introducing Andile Njokweni and Motseothate November in place of Bangane and Givemore Manuelle.
Buffalo threw everything forward but Stars stood firm and held out for the victory.
