Proteas humbled by Hafeez

04 March 2013
Telford Vice

PAKISTAN brought an unlikely wrecking ball to the second T20 cricket international against SA at Centurion yesterday. His name was Mohammad Hafeez. The short, slight Hafeez hammered 86 off 51 balls with nine fours and three sixes in Pakistan's total of 195/7. Then he took 3/25 to help dismiss the home side for 100, their lowest total in the T20 format, in 12.2 overs.

Pakistan's win, by 95 runs, which followed Friday's washout at Kingsmead, decided the two-match series.

"We know that the shorter the game the bigger the chance of one player winning it," SA skipper Faf du Plessis said. "Hafeez changed the game for them."
