Highbury bag second league win

PORT Elizabeth semi-professional soccer outfit Highbury emerged with a narrow 1-0 win over neighbours Cacadu United in a Safa Eastern Cape Second Division league match in Alexandria at the weekend.

The only goal came in the 84th minute when Highbury striker Ruaane Ahgoo netted a beauty after some dazzling footwork.

This victory undoubtedly came as a relief for coach Garth Dickinson.

Highbury, who are languishing among the bottom five on the log, ended the first round of the league winless. But they have bounced back, winning both their matches since fixtures resumed for the second round last week.

The first half of the match was boring, but Highbury came back in the second stanza more determined following several substitutions.

Dickinson said the players were gaining confidence. "I'm happy, even though this is something we should have done in the first round."
