A PORT Elizabeth cricket fan got the best birthday gift a sports-loving woman could ask for last night – a wedding proposal, complete with a diamond ring, at a match. Allister Uren, 33, of West End, asked his girlfriend of 14 years, Clareece Freeman, to marry him in front of about 2000 spectators at the T20 game between the Chevrolet Warriors and Cape Cobras at Axxess DSL St George's.

Luckily for him, she said yes.

"I am still on cloud nine. When I saw my name on the screen, I said 'Oh no! It cannot possibly be me.' I had a bad day at work but my colleagues kept on saying perhaps he was going to make it up to me later because it was my birthday," Freeman said.
