Cleese brings show to PE

08 March 2013
BRITISH comedian John Cleese will be visiting Port Elizabeth later this year, bringing his entertaining show John Cleese Live to the Feather Market Centre on June 15 and 16.

Best known for his idiosyncratic turns in Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers and A Fish Called Wanda, Cleese's off-camera life will also be up on stage.

John van de Ruit, who has had the pleasure of working with him on Spud, in which he plays the bibulous Guv, the boys' English master with a crusty shell and heart of gold, sums him up in five words:

  • Brilliant: he is very clever;

  • Huge: in fact his size is quite intimidating – he is 6'5";

  • A story-master: if you ever have the luck to sit down and chat with him, take it;

  • Witty;

  • Sensitive: you might not realise it but inside he is a very soft character. You can see a little of that side in his performance as the Guv in Spud.

Tickets for the Cleese show are on sale at Computicket.
