Should not treat opposition badly

IN case some readers did not see the disgusting remarks by Cheeky Watson in The Herald of February 26, this is what he advocated:

"I am hoping every seat in the stadium will be filled for the game against the Sharks. I want to see a hostile atmosphere for the visiting teams in all our home games.

"Our win over the Force has set the scene for the rest of the season."

Is he the type of ambassador we need for our area and South Africa? Certainly not. We are no longer the friendly city.

I and others strongly recommend he resign and cancel his son Luke's contract as he is well past his sell-by date.

I appeal to all sport-minded people to welcome opposition as true sportsmen should.

I am 86 and played against the British Lions and Wallabies in 1953 and 1955.

Bill Loppnow, Sunridge Park, Port Elizabeth
