NATIONAL cricket hero Fanie de Villiers has promised his support and assistance to a Port Elizabeth couple who need to raise R40000 to buy hearing aids for their two-year-old daughter.

De Villiers visited Craig and Cindy Dunnington, of Miramar, yesterday during a brief visit to Port Elizabeth, giving them emotional support and advice as they embark on a fundraising campaign to purchase the hearing aids for their daughter, Taylor.

The family currently rent the aids at a cost of R2000 a month.

De Villiers's daughter, Sune, 21, received cochlear implants when she was a toddler.
