IT was an emotional day yesterday for Port Elizabeth cycling queen Anriette Schoeman, who won the women's race in the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour in Cape Town for a record seventh time.

Schoeman, 35, won the race in four successive years from 2000 to 2003, before scooping the title for the fifth time in 2006.

She won her sixth title in 2010 and seventh yesterday.

She finished yesterday's race by edging ahead on the line in 2:55:53 to become the first person to win seven titles in the popular annual road race.
