WHEN I read the report, "Huge 'cross of hope' near bridge aims to halt suicides" (March 6), I had to pause for a minute to recollect what the date was. No, it's not April 1 yet, so this must be real.
To go into all the reasons why this is so wrong would take too long, so please can you put me in contact with Lynn Williams so I can find out where to join the residents' petition that is sure to ensue?
I do not live at Van Stadens, but I have friends that do, and I go hiking and climbing there. Also I drive to Jeffreys Bay to go surf.
This cross will be an eyesore and will ruin the landscape. How can they even get permission to erect such an insult?
If they really want to stop people from jumping they can write a sign in white letters on the valley floor below the bridge.
