Principal stabbed to death

12 March 2013
A SCHOOL principal died after being stabbed several times while sitting in his vehicle – allegedly by the husband of a woman in the car with him.

Kirkwood's St Colmcille High School principal Dulgan Dirk, 58, was sitting in his black Tata in Seagull Crescent at about 8pm on Sunday with the woman when they were attacked.

Spokeswoman Warrant Officer Marianette Olivier said police could not speculate about the motive for the attack.

However, they had arrested a 34-year-old man, believed to be the woman's husband.

He cannot be named until he appears in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court today.

"During the incident the woman was also stabbed," Olivier said.

A man later handed himself over to police at the Kamesh police station. – Gareth Wilson
