I WAS saddened, but not surprised, by the negative comments regarding the proposed cross at Van Staden's that appeared in your SMS column during the past week.
I believe that all of us, and not only those who have become desperate enough to contemplate jumping off the bridge, need to be reminded that Jesus loves us – and that is what Easter is all about!
However – and perhaps this is why "Secular Citizen" fears that he/she might become distracted – the cross will not allow us to remain indifferent because Jesus' love is a two-way street, and demands a response, whether positive or negative.
Many of us will recall singing Jesus Loves Me in Sunday school, but there is another version for those who are a little older.
The last verse reads: "I love Jesus! Does He know?/ Have I ever told Him so?/ Jesus wants to hear me say/ that I love Him every day."
I have no idea who wrote that, but it certainly makes one think!
