NEW MAYOR

RETIREMENT age in SA is between 60 and 65. We now have an 81-year-old mayor. Who in heaven's name comes up with these ideas? PE needs vibrant and exuberant youth with business brains as a leader.

MADAM & EVE

THE Madam & Eve strip on Friday March 8 was a shocking case of bad taste and gutter humour. Whoever is responsible for it and its publication should hang their heads in shame. Have they no respect for Reeva or her family and friends? What's so funny about the shocking way she met her death? Everyone is talking about the little guttersnipe who pulled the trigger four times! What about the victim? This is not funny, so please stop the jokes! Show some respect.

MICHAEL WALSH, PORT ELIZABETH

MADAM & Eve of Friday March 8 was so insensitive and offensive. Surely readers turn to the "funnies" to add a smile to their day.

MIKE

IT is disgusting to see that the cartoonist can make fun of such a serious tragedy. He is labelling Oscar Pistorius guilty before the trial even starts. This must be upsetting to both families involved. This is in extremely poor taste. The Herald should not publish cartoons like this.

KINGS RUGBY

KINGS all the way! You go, Cheeky and Mr Solomon.

RURAL IMPI

GREAT game, Kings. A marvellous effort on defence. You have proven that nobody just rocks up and wins. You stuck to your guns and made them work for every point scored. They could not cross our tryline and that alone makes a bold statement. The word is out, "Kings rule". Let's fill the stadium again and again.

QUINTON, GELVANDALE

WENT to Kings/Sharks game and saw at least three violent fights caused by stupid Kings fans goading Sharks fans. Rather watch future games on TV.

TRUE BLUE

AIDA

WOW! What an excellent show! Congratulations to Robin Williams and all who were involved in Theodor Herzl's brilliant production of Aida. Bravo!

CHIEFS v PIRATES

OUR football in Mzansi is as bad as our referees. Chiefs and Pirates not impressive.

EDUCATION

SADTU'S demand for Angie Motshegka to resign is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Sadtu is the downfall of our education in this country and these lazy teachers must start working for their salaries.

PETE

SURELY all teachers are important no matter their age. Age brings with it experience, they have much to offer.

EYE OPERATIONS

I WAS shocked to have learned of an incident at Greenacres Hospital. Three ladies were booked for eye operations. They took the first lady into theater and did her operation, while the other two were prepared and eye drops put into their eyes. When the first lady came back to the ward, they took the second lady in but brought her back unable to perform the operation as they had run out of the chemical they use in the machines. The ops were postponed. One would expect this from a state hospital.

REPLIES TO READERS' OPINIONS

NO, Jesse Walker, it's not April Fool's Day – the only fool is you. A cross has never and will never be an insult. Go and surf and hike somewhere else.

KAT

JESSE Walker. A cross at Van Staden's an insult and an eyesore? May you never hit rock bottom and read signs on the valley floor as you suggest. Don't mock God.

BELIEVER

JESSE Walker you are against the power of the cross yet you are enjoying every minute that nature gives. Remember you find solace in hiking etc, while others find solace in the cross.

DUPY G

PEOPLE find something to complain about no matter what! Now its the cross of hope saga, the landscape etc! Meantime the "big picture" is being overlooked.

CHER

PERHAPS a sign should be erected at Van Staden's that says the families of suicide victims will be heavily fined and they should make their own plans to retrieve the body and pay for it.
