Chaotic Sassa reregistration process slammed

THE chaotic Sassa reregistration process, aimed at eliminating bogus beneficiaries, has seen the elderly and mothers with young children in tow forced to queue from 5am in Nelson Mandela Bay, often without success.

They have also been sent from one centre to the next, with no clear direction from Sassa (SA Social Security Agency ) officials at each place.

Some frustrated grant recipients described the reregistration process as "a big mess". They complained of long queues and confusion about where they were meant to register.

One furious mother said she had to pull her son out of school every time she tried to reregister for the grant because children had to be present for the process.
