Behaviour shows members' true heart

AMID reports of the unseemly behaviour of certain ruling party members in the metro concerning the redeployment of mayor Zanoxolo Wayile and deputy Nancy Sihlwayi over the weekend, The Herald brings up the scourge of rape which besets our country.

How wonderful it would be if some of the energy expended on throwing bins full of refuse on the steps of the City Hall, marching and screaming, could rather be used to protect our women and children.

ANC Women's League members were apparently responsible for this behaviour.

Instead of hastening the provision of rape kits to our police, some SAPS members are on a witch hunt for the whistleblowers. More misdirected energy.

What is wrong with our society? Instead of tackling the problems, some want to punish those who wish to help the helpless.

Cry, the beloved country.

Bernice Wright, DA councillor
