NMMU No 1 Jason le Roux kept his composure in a tight situation to help the varsity retain the men's Super League squash title in Tuesday's final at Londt Park. With the match deadlocked at 2-2, Le Roux defeated Profiles opponent Sean Bailey 3-1 to secure a 16-8 victory for his team.
In the women's competition, Londt Park regained the title they conceded to Crusaders last year with a decisive 17-4 win over the St George's Park club. Londt Park, who won the title from 2009-2011, finished on 52 points, 10 ahead of Saders. Only Michelle Roos, at No 5, registered a win for Saders.
The men's final was well contested, with wins by Kyle Schwarz and Andre Labuschagne for NMMU and for Dane Bigara and Garth Plaatjies of Profiles.
Le Roux, however, had the measure of Bailey in the decider to continue the student team's recent dominance in EP league squash.
