School victory in liquidation battle

14 March 2013

PORT Elizabeth private school Ed-U- College has won its legal battle with Transnet, with the parastatal backing down on its attempt to have the school liquidated.

According to a pending settlement agreement between the parties, their respective auditors will meet and draw up a reconciliation of the financial relationship between the school and Transnet, which has been the landlord of Ed-U- College for almost 17 years.

Transnet brought the application in January, claiming it was owed R1-million by the private school.

Ed-U-College chief executive Lillian Niemann said yesterday the legal move on her school was "like being attacked by sharks and hyenas".
