ANOTHER Eastern Cape school has been set alight and vandalised by pupils following a fallout with management.
Gengqe Senior Secondary School, north of Mthatha, became a crime scene yesterday as police searched for prints and other clues following violence led by pupils unhappy that the school had refused to send them on a sporting tour to Matatiele.
Following the violence, the school's staffroom and two other offices were burnt down, windows smashed and the storeroom – which keeps food as part of government's nutrition programme – was looted and vandalised.
The principal, his deputy and a clerk narrowly escaped as angry pupils pelted them with rocks, planks and iron pipes.
