AND for the winning trainer – a R1-million bonus! This exciting incentive by the Cape Thoroughbred Sales to promote their sale at the Durbanville Racecourse in Cape Town next weekend has been widely welcomed in South African horse racing.
Qualifying yearlings from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 2) will be competing in a Challenge Series and the trainer of the horse which wins the most stake money will get R1-million.
It is about time that such incentives and rewards are put in place for trainers.
All role players in the game need an incentive like that and trainers have long been overlooked in this regard. It is certainly something to aim for and trainers will get the chance to market their stables and to go to look for buyers.
If you are thinking of buying a racehorse, now would be a good time to get to one of the PE trainers and urge him to help find the horse of your dreams.
And it would be great if a PE trainer walks away with the bonus, of course.
But first the PE trainers have got to stop the strong Cape Town stable of Justin Snaith winning today's listed races at Fairview. Snaith is looking good to win both the Breeders Guineas and the Eastern Cape Fillies Nursery.
Last week, we made some money with the PA – for R384 you got R 1484.80 – and hope to follow up today.
