PART-TIME spinner Dean Elgar proved the hero as the Knights pulled off an unlikely six-run victory over the Chevrolet Warriors in a Ram Slam T20 Challenge cricket fixture at Axxess St George's last night.
With the Knights defending a paltry 114, Elgar set panic among the Warriors batsmen with some fine slow bowling to collect four wickets for 23 runs. It was his best analysis in this format of the game, beating his previous best of three for 10 against the Dolphins in his debut season five years ago.
The Warriors will wake up this morning wondering how they managed to let this one slip. They produced with the ball and they seemingly had control with the bat at 78 for two in the 15th over.
But a clutch of rash shots, coupled with tight bowling, saw them crumble badly.
