'Police let my mom be shot'

A DAY after a Jeffreys Bay mother begged police to protect her from a former boyfriend who was threatening to kill her, she was gunned down in a jealous rage at her home.

The alleged killer, a local policeman, also shot a friend, Sithembele Note, who was visiting the woman before turning the gun on himself on Saturday.

The devastated family of Nelphelo "Beauty" Ramncwana, 36, believe the murders could have been prevented if police had acted.

But provincial police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills said the police had no record of any death threats made by the policeman or domestic violence complaints against him.
