A SPATE of house robberies in Port Elizabeth at the weekend has left one man injured after a robber shot him in both legs outside his home.
Police believe two of the robberies may be linked.
The first incident happened on Friday when three gunmen evaded arrest after they tried to rob a woman at her Kragga Kamma home at 5pm.
Two hours later, Willem du Plessis, 68, was attacked outside his Charlo home by what police suspect was the same group of robbers.
Police spokesman Captain Stanley Jarvis said Du Plessis was attacked when he confronted the robbers. The gunmen turned on Du Plessis and stole his watch.
"A scuffle ensued and the one man shot him once in each leg," Jarvis said.
Meanwhile, two NMMU students were robbed at their Summerstrand home at 6am yesterday. Jarvis said the robbers threw a brick through a window to gain entry.
Dennis Heck, 20, and Venecia Prinsloo, 21, were inside.
"One attacker held a knife to Heck's throat and threatened to kill him should they scream or call for help," Jarvis said.
The three men stole a laptop, cellphones and other goods before fleeing.
