Why do we put up with bad driving?

IT is frightening how bad drivers are in total control of our roads. No wonder there is such a huge road death toll.

I have to cross the main beachfront road daily and do so at the traffic lights, and even so the vehicles only stop halfway across the zebra crossing, with no regard for the pedestrians.

Surely a quick way of reaping in revenue would be to spot fine these traffic offenders. There are never any visible traffic police. Why not put up cameras or create jobs for some people just to keep a check on traffic rules?

There must be some way that we can bring back some respect and polite traffic manners.

The taxis are a law unto themselves, and stop wherever and whenever they feel like. Why don't we have designated taxi stops? One particularly bad one is outside the Boardwalk.

It is just mind-blowing that we put up with what is happening. There must be enough drivers who want law and order so why can't we stamp out the blatant disregard for traffic rules of the road?
