Splash fiasco: time for another official to resign

ATTENTION economic development and recreational services acting director Zolile Siswana:

The last time I asked for that guy who "runs" the non-existent traffic department to resign. This week I am begging for you to resign. As with the traffic department that is only good at assisting northern area funerals and a busload of soccer players, you too seem to have very limited capabilities.

As a ratepayer of this city and therefore as your de facto employer (you can call me "comrade employer" if you wish), I want an explanation as to how/why you and your "comrade do-nothings" have not managed to award a tender for the Splash Festival?

How is it that you, your committee and your fellow councillors have not been able to do so? You had one full year.

It is not as if you actually have to organise Splash or even get your hands dirty. All you need to do, is award a simple tender.

No matter what, even if you do award the tender now, it is doomed to fail as no major artist/performer/group will drop their other major events just to be at a boring and bygone Splash. Seriously, who do you actually think attends Splash anyway?

It used to be fun and well organised, 10 years ago. The only reason why people go is because they are bored and because they would have gone to the beach anyway.

Come up with new ideas and innovative ways to market Port Elizabeth, as well as a better programme that will actually bring past and potential tourists to the city.

Mr Siswana, if you worked directly for me, I would fire you immediately for gross incapacity, with no package or transfer to parliament.

Mr Siswana, please explain to the people of this city why and how you have let us down. If not, then I take it that your continued silence shows that you are nothing but a coward who wishes to hide behind his party and his office.
