Give us quality films in the Bay

WHAT has happened to movies in Port Elizabeth? Apart from the usual blockbusters and poor comedies, there is nothing of substance for any discerning viewer to see.

Silver Linings Playbook (an Oscar contender and winner for best supporting actress) was on at the Bridge. When we tried to go to see it we were advised that particular movie theatre was out of commission and the film was not showing.

After phoning three times in the following days and being told the same thing, the movie was taken off!

Incidentally, as the Bridge does not advertise its programme at all, how are patrons to know what exactly is showing?

Secondly, where is Quartet? This excellent and highly popular film with outstanding actors is showing in all the big centres of South Africa – but not in Port Elizabeth. I feel this is grossly unfair.

Please, in desperation, movie house managers, try to get it for Port Elizabeth.
