IN an entertaining game, Newton Tech beat Ndzondelelo 22-3 in their schools rugby match at Newton Tech at the weekend. Despite a strong wind, both sides played constructive, running rugby.
Newton led 5-3 at half time with a try by wing Rory Africander, while Ndzondelelo scrumhalf Siyabonga Ngcaba landed a penalty.
Playing into the wind in the second half, Ndzondelelo found it difficult to get out of their half and succumbed to relentless pressure from Newton.
Newton scored three second-half tries by fullback Armand Visser, lock Xolisa Tom and centre Gershwin de Donker. CentreKurt Lindoor added a conversion.
Tom had a great game, as did flyhalf Wildre Otto, while centres Mpumelela Makisi and Siyamkela Nxesha shone for Ndzondelelo.
