THE man who pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of Walmer Country Club manager Gerrie Hoekstra three years ago was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the Port Elizabeth High Court yesterday.
Hoekstra , a former EP rugby coach who for many years owned the Maverick Spur at the Kine Park Centre in Rink Street, was en route to a bank in Main Road, Walmer, to deposit the week's takings of about R33000 when he was shot at the 9th Avenue and Heugh Road intersection on November 22 2010.
Abduragmaan Hendricks, 41, of Cape Road, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob and murder. He is charged with Sherwin Leander, 28, of Chatty, Charne Brown, 31, of Newton Park, and Karen van der Merwe, 40, of Kabega Park.
