HARD work and determination have been credited with helping a Grahamstown-born woman break into what is generally considered a male- dominated industry.
Phumza Ralo is the casting director and dialogue coach for popular television drama Zabalaza, which airs Monday to Thursday at 9pm on Mzansi Magic.
The 28-year-old aspired to be a social worker like her aunt while growing up in Grahamstown, but "I realised that I would never survive in that career as I'm too sensitive".
After matric Ralo studied drama and television production at the Durban University of Technology.
She then moved to Johannesburg to pursue her dream of working in television production, starting out as an intern for Dance Your Butt Off season one. She joined the Zabalaza team this year, where she is also training to be a director.
