THE fraud trial of parliamentary chief whip Stone Sizani's wife, Pankie, will not proceed for another year after the court heard that her "advocate of choice" was too busy to represent her any time soon.
A seemingly healthy Sizani smiled and winked at her friends in the gallery as the postponement was granted. The prosecution was furious.
Sizani's brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court yesterday also prevented the magistrate from disclosing her mysterious illness, which halted the start of her trial earlier this month.
She is accused of creating "ghost" teachers to pocket almost R300000 between January 2009 and November 2010.
