AN ELDERLY woman was arrested yesterday after allegedly shooting her husband dead.
The shooting occurred shortly before 9am.
The 73-year-old man was dead by the time the police and emergency personnel arrived. His 70-year-old wife was arrested and a revolver confiscated.
Police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said the revolver was licensed in the woman's name.
She said the man had been shot "multiple times" in the upper body.
The police ruled out a case of mistaken identity by late yesterday.
Swart said: "The motive is being investigated ..."
Officers linked to the case said they were investigating claims of domestic abuse.
The woman will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court today. – Gareth Wilson
