A PORT Elizabeth woman was stung to death by a swarm of angry bees yesterday.
The unidentified woman, in her 50s, is believed to have inadvertently disturbed a hive of bees while walking along the railway line in Charlo.
According to bee experts, two people die in South Africa every year from bee stings. About 50 dogs a year are killed in Port Elizabeth by bees.
The tragedy happened near Francisco Street. Police officers, medics and municipal pest control officials were also stung multiple times as they tried to find the hive yesterday.
