WHAT seemed to be a straightforward assignment for Aryan B against St Mark and St John turned out to be a tough examination in the Nelson Mandela Bay table tennis premier league this week.
Experienced Aryan B player Shahied Abrahams came to the rescue, showing fine form to win all his matches, including a close encounter over Robert Kuscus 7-11 14-12 11-9. In the end, Aryans came out on top, winning 8-3.
In the first league, the exciting match of the evening was between St Mark and St John and Malabar. Despite Wynand van Eyk (St Mark and St John) winning all his matches, Malabar showed they were a force to be reckoned with as they took the encounter 7-4.
NMMU C had their hands full against juniors Mitesh Navsaria and Daniel Ward from Aryan D. However, Themba Ngxabi (NMMU C) was in good form, winning all his games to contribute to a close 6-5 win. Aryan C had no problem defeating Despatch 10-1, Younus Choonara, Zeenal Bhana and Maurice Adams (Aryan C) showing fine form. NMMU B had an easy victory over NMMU D, 11-0
