A FEISTY Nelson Mandela Bay mayor, Ben Fihla, came out guns blazing yesterday, saying contrary to popular belief he was not a "lame duck" who just watched while the city's administration crumbled.
He also threatened those who leaked information to the media, saying they were untrustworthy and would be exposed and clamped down on.
At a full council meeting yesterday, Fihla said he would not entertain the proposed R3.2-million golden handshake for former city manager Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela because she had resigned voluntarily.
He also backtracked on his decision to take the case involving Lumen Technologies out of the courts.
"People say I'm a lame duck, but I can promise you from now onwards things are going to move forward for the better," he said.
