TWO Graaff-Reinet schools have raised R15000 for the Forever Wild – Rhino Protection Initiative.
The Union high and preparatory schools handed over the money to the initiative's ambassador, Port Elizabeth-born Proteas and Warriors cricketer Colin Ingram last week.
Union High School headmaster William Pringle said the pupils had worked very hard to raise the funds and had organised a big walk.
The initiative was launched by the Wilderness Foundation in May 2011 to address rhino poaching. Wilderness Foundation chief executive Andrew Muir said he was grateful to the schools for their generous donation. – Unathi Jongihlathi
