INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed events organiser Colin Cowie (pictured) will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming International Mohair Summit, which will be hosted in Jansenville in the Eastern Cape at the end of October.
Cowie, who attended school in East London but is now based in New York, will be one of several speakers at the event, taking place from Wednesday October 30 until Saturday November 2.
His talk is titled Luxury Reinvented: The New Customer.
Growers, buyers, manufacturers, sellers, fashion designers and interior decorators from around the globe are expected to attend the event, which will be held in the Karoo, home to arguably the world's finest Angora goats. The Eastern Cape is the biggest producer of the world's mohair.
Mohair SA general manager Deon Saayman said the summit, which is primarily funded by the provincial government, was aimed at increasing interest in international trade in the mohair industry, while creating a South African interest in mohair as a fibre product.
It also aimed to create sustainable jobs and business opportunities for residents of the area. – Lee-Anne Butler
