AFTER years of unhappiness over noise and parking, Richmond Hill residents and the Fathers House Church seem to have finally come up with a solution – a fifth service every Sunday.
The Stanley Street church will introduce the new service next month. Father George Georgiou believes the additional service will help alleviate overcrowding at the church.
The residents have been at loggerheads with the church since it moved into the area, with community members complaining about everything from early morning drumbeats to parking shortages, screaming youths and constant construction.
Georgiou said relations had improved after he started attending monthly meetings with the community to discuss issues and find solutions.
"The addition of the fifth service will spread the load so that there are not so many people at a service. I believe it will be better to have five services with 400 people than the four with 600. It will also help with the parking in the area so that it is not so congested," he said yesterday.
