A YOUNG Port Elizabeth woman, who will bury her father at the weekend, has spoken about the shock she felt on hearing he had been murdered, mutilated and callously thrown into a pigsty.
The burnt body of Ntombekhaya Dili's father, Phikisile, was found in a Motherwell pigsty almost two weeks ago. His eyes had been gouged out and his mouth and nose severely hacked.
And as the family prepare for Saturday's funeral Ntombekhaya, 31, has spoken for the first time about her non-drinking, non-smoking 56-year-old father.
Ntombekhaya, a product of her father's first marriage, said he did not deserve to die in such a humiliating manner. Late last week angry residents protested outside the Motherwell Magistrate's Court demanding that the accused, Dili's estranged wife Siziwe Virginia Fiti, 50, not be granted bail.
"He was a good father. I hardly sleep at night. I feel like I have been stabbed with a sharp object," Ntombekhaya said. Dili's funeral service will be held at the Motherwell Community Centre in NU13 on Saturday morning.
Fiti will appear in court again on September 19 for a bail hearing. – Hendrick Mphande
