EXPOSED underground electricity cables and no working streetlights have become the norm and a danger for residents of Anita Drive in Extension 12, Port Elizabeth.
Residents say they are fed up with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality for not responding to their calls for the necessary repairs.
Daphne Jeffreys, 59, said the cables had been exposed for about three months. "I closed up the section of my yard where the footpath is so we don't fall into the hole and step on the cables," she said.
A few feet away from the footpath in her yard there is an even bigger and deeper hole where electricity cables and sewage and water pipes are exposed. "We are worried the children will fall into this big hole and hurt themselves."
