FAILURE to correctly fill in and submit all the required documents is the main reason most businesses miss out on tenders, Nelson Mandela Bay municipal officials said yesterday.
The municipality has in recent months come under fire from some organised black business leaders who complained the city awarded lucrative contracts to established businesses and neglected smaller ones.
Budget and treasury portfolio committee councillor Makhi Feni and supply chain compliance senior administration officer Chwayita Toyi yesterday stressed the importance of submitting all the relevant documents when tendering for municipal contracts.
They were speaking at the first of 12 public participation sessions with business owners at the Cecil Kapi Hall in New Brighton.
