Seven people were killed in a car accident on the N2 between Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday (03/09/2013), paramedics said.
Three of the seven were Eastern Cape correctional services officials, the correctional services’ department said.
The officials were en route to a meeting at St Albans correctional centre in Port Elizabeth, spokesman Logan Maistry said.
The three were based in Queenstown.
Among the dead was a two-year-old child.
Four other people sustained minor injuries and were taken to various hospitals, Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said earlier.
