A CLUSTER of new skyscrapers transforming the London skyline are often blamed for spoiling the view. Now one has been accused of "melting” a car.
The Walkie Talkie tower in the city’s insurance district, which is being developed by Canary Wharf Group and Land Securities, is concave in design so that developers can squeeze more money from its larger upper floors where rents are higher. It reflects sunlight at such intense levels that it warped panels and melted mirrors on a parked Jaguar earlier this week.
The developers were "evaluating long-term solutions", they said. "The options include things like films on some of the windows to disrupt the lens effect.” – Reuters
