MORE oil has been uncovered on the beach in Goukamma Nature Reserve where the container vessel Kiani Satu ran aground last month.
As a commission of inquiry into the sinking of the vessel drew to a close, CapeNature said yesterday oil had been found beneath sand this week.
"Some of the high beach oil has now been uncovered by wind," it said.
"This rendered it impossible to clean up without causing additional negative environmental impacts."
Areas affected included an estuary bar where oil was also exposed by wind.
"The estuary serves as a breeding ground for many fish species."
