A UITENHAGE woman who was mauled and badly maimed by a neighbour's boerboel has won a R4.9-million payout after she successfully sued the dog's owner.
The money will, in part, be used for a R1.5-million state-of-the-art prosthetic arm for fitness fanatic Heila Greeff, whose limb was almost completely ripped off in the ferocious attack.
The matter was settled out of court on Friday with dog owner Adrian Benecke's insurance company, Santam.
The two-year-old boerboel was put down after the attack.
Greeff, the wife of Uitenhage doctor Andre Greeff, was mauled in Sir Thomas Muir Drive on June 7 last year.
