A SLICK businessman who allegedly defrauded Port Elizabeth residents out of about R1.4-million through a litany of "false" business ventures was back in court yesterday, where a new charge of fraud was added against him.
This time Jason Wood is alleged to have defrauded Hollywood Sportsbook out of R7000 by placing bets on horses and then failing to pay up.
It is alleged that on March 31 he convinced employee Julie Solomons that he would bring the money for the bets to her later that same day. However, he allegedly never delivered on his promise.
Wood, who is out on R6000 bail, made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court yesterday, where his case was postponed to October 9 for further investigation.
