AS we approach the ANC provincial list conference, it's time again when branches and members of the ANC will exercise their democratic right and deploy comrades to provincial and national legislatures to advance the national democratic revolution, by ensuring that services are given to our people. It is in our hands to ensure that we deploy people who have service delivery at heart, comrades who are not selfish.
In the past, at the list conference in Mthatha, we made a big mistake in some areas, voting for comrades who then abandoned even their branches. We must be vigilant and non-apologetic in deploying comrades.
A generational mix will also be good but with purpose. Some become big-headed when they are elected, so let's be careful and ensure that this time we send people who will not forget the ANC membership.
We still need them here in the branches to regroup and get more education about our vision as the ANC for the future. The ANC is not a ticket to wealth or parliament, therefore we must work collectively in advancing the poor's needs.
Some MPs and MPLs I last saw or heard about four years ago at Mthatha's list conference. That is wrong and we cannot allow it.
The current ANC leadership is equal to the task and with our support will defeat this unfortunate tendency.
